CSUN On-line Registration Debuts With Impressive Results
The results are in! With the fall semester to begin in one week, more than 25
percent of the 29,086 Cal State Northridge students who have registered for
classes did so using the university's new Web Service Portal.
"We were pleasantly surprised," said Robert Stark, CSUN's director
of application development. "We were led to expect that about 20 percent
of students would register through the web. The results exceeded our
expectations."
The fall semester at CSUN begins Monday, Aug. 27.
Students who registered at my.csun.edu were surprised at how easy and quick it
was, said Stark.
"When word gets around-and it will-the percentage of students who register using
the web next semester should exceed 80 percent," predicted Stark.
According to Stark, web registration will be promoted more aggressively in the
fall through on-campus group presentations and demonstrations on how to use the
new service.
California State University, Northridge has more than 29,000 full- and
part-time students and offers 63 bachelor's and 51 master's degrees. Founded
in 1958, it is the only four-year university in the San Fernando Valley
and the third largest in the 23-campus CSU system. The Western Association
of Schools and Colleges recently said CSUN "stands as a model to
other public urban institutions of higher education
