National Youth Sports Program Offered Again at CSUB
California State University, Bakersfield will be the Kern County headquarters for the National Youth Sports Program for the ninth year. This program will provide no-cost sports activities and an educational enrichment program for 250 youths, ages 10-16 from families with low income. Participating school districts are Arvin, Bakersfield City, and Wasco Union school districts. The program is supported by the National Collegiate Athletic Association
(NCAA), the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, CSUB and companies
and agencies within the Bakersfield community. CSUB administration and
qualified public school professionals will conduct the National Youth
Sports Program for 25 days starting June 15 and ending July 20. The
daily hours are from 8 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. 2001 Income Eligibility Guidelines
Transportation for elementary grade students will be provided by their participating school districts. A required medical examination will be given at no cost to the participants.
