California State Student Assoc. Announces New Leadership

The California State Student Association, the student association of the California State University, today (Wednesday, July 19) announced its new executive committee for the 2000/01 academic year at the CSU Board of Trustees meeting in Long Beach. The student leaders were elected through a systemwide student vote to represent the CSU's 360,000 students on 23 campuses throughout the state.

The members of the new executive committee are:

  • Shaun Lumachi, chair, CSU Sacramento
  • Euliza Mahinan, vice chair of internal affairs, San Diego State
  • Roger Eagleton, vice chair of external affairs, CSU Bakersfield
  • Ricardo Rodriguez, chair of legislative affairs, CSU Hayward
  • Anthony Drummand, chair of university affairs, San Jose State

Lumachi said that the main issues for the upcoming academic year will be: searching for a new Student Trustee, continuing a collaborative relationship with the CSU chancellor's office, increasing CSSA's presence in Sacramento and seeking supplementary funding through the formation of a CSSA Foundation.

The CSSA is the acknowledged statewide student organization designed to represent, serve and protect the collective interests of students in the CSU system. It's stated mission is to maintain and enhance the accessibility of quality education for the people of California.
