Governor Appoints Fresno State's Jennifer Reimer A Student Member Of CSU Board Of Trustees

Fresno State student Jennifer Reimer, the 2005-06 president of the Associated Students and chair of the California State Student Association's Board of Directors, was appointed a California State University student trustee by Gov. Schwarzenegger.

"I'm proud to be a CSU student," said Reimer, who begins studies this fall at the Craig School of Business for her master's of business administration. "I will work hard to represent the best interests of students."

Reimer was selected from among three students nominated by the California State Student Association. The association represents the 405,000 students enrolled in the 23-campus CSU system.

"Jennifer has been an outstanding student leader on campus and in the state," said Fresno State President John D. Welty. "She will bring exceptional strengths to the board."

The 2006 Dean's Medalist from the Division of Student Affairs, Reimer, 23, graduated from Fresno State with a double major in business administration and music performance. She was a Smittcamp Family Honors College Scholar and in the Sid Craig Business Scholars Program.

She played clarinet in the President's Quintet, the Fresno State Wind Ensemble and West Coast Clarinet Congress Ensemble. She is a graduate of Bullard High School in Fresno.

There are two student members on the CSU Board of Trustees. One is a voting member and both are selected for two-year terms. Andrew La Flamme of California State University, Stanislaus, is the 2006-07 voting student trustee. Reimer will become the voting member next July 1.

Reimer will join another Fresno State alumna, Carol Chandler, on the CSU board. Chandler, long active in San Joaquin Valley agriculture after a teaching career, was appointed a CSU trustee in 2004.
