CSUSB Enters into Educational Partnership with Five Thai Universities

Cal State San Bernardino has signed memorandums of understanding with representatives of five universities, including three university presidents from Thailand, to foster various exchanges in coming years.

"These agreements will allow us to pursue cultural and educational exchanges among students, faculty and staff over the coming years," said CSUSB President Albert K. Karnig. "These well-developed Thai universities have expressed interest in many areas, including teacher training, water resources, computer sciences, environmental sciences, business and English literacy."

The universities represented include Surindra Rajabhat University, Ubon Ratchathani University, Loei Rajabhat University, Rajabhat Rajanagarindra University and Chulalongkorn University. Dr. Sombat Karnjanakit of Chulalongkorn University is the group's spokesman.

Rosalie Giacchino-Baker, co-director of CSUSB's International Institute, traveled with a group of CSUSB administrators last June to Thailand to lay the groundwork for the agreements.

"We're proud to create an affiliation with these fine universities," said Giacchino-Baker, who lived and worked in Thailand for three years.
