Norma Rees, president of California State University, Hayward, and Roberta Achtenberg, a member of the board of trustees of the California State University system, have been recognized among the “20 Most Influential Women in the Bay Area Public Arena” by the San Francisco Business Times in its recently published special section.

Rees, who previously has been honored by the publication among its annual top 100 women business leaders, joined Achtenberg as the Business Times for the first time recognized 20 women heading key Bay Area public agencies and nonprofits.

Rees has been president of Cal State Hayward since 1990.

Achtenberg also is senior vice president for public policy for the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce.
