Mission Statement for CSU ILL Lending Units
Most CSU Interlibrary Loan Lending Units participate in interlibrary loan activities to
both libraries within the CSU system and libraries outside the CSU system. Interlibrary Loan
activities may include the lending of circulating materials such as monographs, AV media
resources and maps. Photocopies of journal articles, book chapters, chapters in reference
items, special collections items, and other materials are also commonly available.
The Interlibrary Loan Lending personnel of the CSU system are dedicated to the idea
of resource sharing to libraries around the world and are specifically dedicated to resource
sharing among the sister campuses of the CSU system. The philosophy of sharing resources
across the system gives the patrons of each campus access to all the resources acquired
throughout the CSU campuses. Having access to such a large research collection gives our patrons,
(students, faculty, and staff), the chance for greater success in their research. The CSU
Interlibrary Loan Lending personnel give CSU requests the highest priority in
an attempt to serve this purpose.
The CSU campuses participate in resource sharing among the California State University
system and all its campuses, and most participate in resource sharing with institutions outside
of the CSU system. Each campus has a lending policy unique to its campus. The CSU campuses
lend to each other at no cost to the borrowing institution.
Each library may choose to participate in a variety of national and international Interlibrary
Loan systems. Requests should be sent to the library that owns the materials being requested.
The most common method of requesting materials from a CSU library is using OCLC WorldCat
Resource Sharing via ILLiad. |
