CSU Interlibrary Borrowing Task Force
The purpose of the Borrowing Task Force is to examine and recommend methods to
improve and enhance Interlibrary Borrowing Services.
Recommendations

- Develop procedural guidelines for the CSU Interlibrary Borrowing Service.

- How will interlibrary borrowing requests be verified to find where
material is located? Material requested may include books, pamphlets,
journal/periodical articles, newspapers, dissertations/master's theses,
Government publications, microforms, audiovisual materials, etc.
- How will a supply source be chosen? Sources may include other libraries,
commercial document delivery suppliers, educational, special, and Government
supply sources, etc.
- How will interlibrary borrowing requests be prepared and transmitted?
OCLC, ALA, Fax, Ariel, email, etc.
- How will borrowed material (returnables and non-returnables) be received,
unwrapped, and prepared for patrons?
- How will borrowed material be returned?
- How will borrowing problems be solved? Follow-up?
- What interlibrary borrowing statistics will be kept?
- Develop procedural guidelines for the CSU Interlibrary Borrowing Service to Distance
Learners using ACRL's "Guidelines for Distance Learning Library Services."

- Develop guidelines for minimum supplies needed by each CSU Interlibrary Borrowing Service Unit.

- Patron request forms (paper and/or electronic)
- ALA Interlibrary Loan Request forms (paper and/or electronic)
- Address shipping labels, scale, envelopes, printer paper, toner, etc.
- Book bands or sleeves
- Mailing supplies for: USPS, Tricor (pouches and bins), UPS, FedEx, other courier, etc.
- Patron notification forms (paper and/or electronic)
Membership
The Borrowing Task Force is comprised of a minimum of three (3) volunteers from the
CSU Interlibrary Loan Departments, with one (1) liaison from the ILL Steering Committee.
Each Task Force member must also have respect for the different CSU campus missions,
cultures, and needs; each member should be flexible, adaptable, and willing to take risks.

Task Force has a minimum of one (1) conference call per month. Other communication may be
conducted via email, and the CSU ILL listserv.
