Which holidays does Tricor count as holidays for billing purposes?
The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Tricor and your library outlines which
days are counted as holidays. They are:
- New Year's Day
- Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
- Washington's Birthday
- Memorial Day
- 4th of July
- Labor Day
- Columbus Day
- Veterans Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Day after Thanksgiving
- Christmas Day
If I elect for holiday service, how is it billed? What is holiday service?
If your library elects for holiday service, you will be charged an additional $25 per shipment.
Holiday service will enable your library to send a shipment on the day of the holiday for delivery
the following day. If your library is open on the day of the holiday and you do not request service,
you will not be able to send any shipments on the holiday.
I did not request holiday service, but I received packages on the holiday. Will I be charged?
Holiday service is charged for picking up on the day of the holiday while still delivering
your shipment the day after the holiday. Tricor will sometimes deliver packages on the day of the
holiday rather than wait until the day after the holiday to perform deliveries. If you happen to
receive books on the day of the holiday, you will not be charged for holiday service.
Note: If you did not specify holiday service and a Tricor driver stops
by to deliver packages, do not release any shipments to them. If you do, you will be charged
for holiday service.
How do I order additional flip cards and zip ties?
Additional flip cards and zip ties can be ordered through your Tricor representative.
How does Tricor transport our books?
When the Tricor driver picks up your pouches and bins, they are brought back to your local
Tricor office and manifested. Afterwards, they are sorted into the appropriate delivery routes
and are put out for delivery the following morning. For locations that are serviced by more than
one Tricor office (i.e. CSU Fullerton to CSU Hayward), the shipment is transferred between offices
in company vehicles. Then the shipment is sorted and put out for delivery.
Some of our books that we loaned out never returned to our library. Can Tricor track my
missing books?
Tricor is only able to track pouches and bins. In order to protect our customers' materials,
our employees are trained to never open any pouches or bins. As a result, we are not able to
track which books were sent at what time, as we have no knowledge of what is being placed inside
the pouches and bins that are sent by any library.
Can I control which libraries I lend to/from?
The California State University system controls the lending system between libraries. Tricor
does not have any control over which libraries lend from where; we simply transport shipments
from the originating lender to the borrower.
Who should I contact regarding billing issues?
Please contact Sherry Lopez.
Why am I charged for round-trip service for the UC libraries or for SRLF/NRLF? I am
only responsible for outbound shipments.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Tricor and your library applies for participants
in the California State University system only. The MOU specifies that each participating library
will only pay for outbound shipment charges. Once you venture outside of the CSU system, this no
longer applies. By default, if you add additional libraries for service that are outside of the CSU
agreement Tricor will bill your library for the round-trip service to and from that library. This
is because any receiving library outside of the CSU system does not have any obligation to pay for
the return trip back to your library.
If you choose to contract Tricor for any services outside the CSU network you should give the
exact specifications of the service you require on setup.
How long does it take for my shipment to arrive at the destination library?
Tricor handles shipments for all libraries on an overnight basis.
I received a shipment that does not belong to me. What should I do?
Tricor will come and pick up the shipment at no charge, provided that the shipment bin or bag
was correctly labeled for another library. Please note that Tricor is not responsible for any books
or other materials inside your shipment bin or bag incorrectly sent to your library, as we have no
control over what goes inside the shipment bin or bag.
In light of budget concerns, can the CSU system prepay Tricor service to secure the budget?
Tricor can arrange prepaid services upon request. Please contact your Tricor representative
to set up prepaid service.
Due to our academic schedule we will be closed for an extended period of time and
will not be lending. Do I need to make any special arrangements with Tricor?
If your library will be closing for an extended period of time, please make sure to notify
your Tricor representative so we may make internal arrangements to hold your shipments. During
the period that your library is closed, Tricor will store your shipments at your local Tricor
office. Your packages will be delivered as soon as you reopen.
I received a book that is damaged. How do I put in a claim?
The first thing to determine is whether the book was damaged due to transportation or if it
was simply damaged over time. Over a lifetime of service, books travel through many hands, and
can accumulate wear over time. With this in mind, books should be properly packaged when placed
out for loan. All books should be bubble-wrapped and closed to prevent damage.
If it is evident that the book was damaged in transit, the claim guidelines are as follows:
- Claims are limited to a maximum of $100 per book or $500 per shipment
- A claim of damage must be submitted to Tricor within 30 days of occurrence
- An invoice detailing actual replacement cost incurred by your library must be submitted
before the claim will be paid out
