  1. I received an information competence grant this year (2001-2002). How do I register and how will I be reimbursed for travel expenses?
  If you are a project grant recipient for the year 2001-2002, you received $500 to attend this conference. Funds may be used to cover the expenses of two people. If more team members wish to attend, please contact Ilene Rockman (irockman@calstate.edu) right away.

Complete the registration form by March 15. The information you submit will be used to create your nametag. Workshop materials will be available at the conference registration desk. There is no cost to register for the conference.

Keep all of your receipts, and follow your campus travel procedures for reimbursement.

If you live more than 25 miles away and wish to come in the night before (Thursday, April 18), call the LAX Crowne Plaze Hotel (310/ 642-7500), ask for "reservations," and identify yourself as a participant in the CSU Information Competence workshop on April 19, 2002, to reserve a room for Thursday, April 18 at the special state rate of $84/night.

Complete the Estimate of Expenses Form and submit it by March 15 following the instructions on the form. Information from that form will be used for setting up the "Project Authorization" process for reimbursing your campus for your travel costs.

The CSU will cover your transportation costs, and the cost of staying at the conference hotel the night before (Thursday, April 18) if you live more than 25 miles away. Call the LAX Crowne Plaze Hotel (310/ 642-7500), ask for "reservations", and identify yourself as a participant in the CSU Information Competence workshop to reserve a room for Thursday, April 18 at the special state rate of $84/night.

To be reimbursed, you must keep your receipts and submit them to your campus with your travel claim. Your campus will be reimbursed by the Chancellor's Office.

  1. I have dietary issues. Will special meals be available?
  The lunch will include a vegetarian option. Be sure to specify this on your registration form.

Morning refreshments including juices, tea, coffee, fresh fruit, and assorted rolls/pastries will be available from 8:30 to 9:30. If you have additional dietary requirements, please contact Ilene Rockman (irockman@calstate.edu)

 
  1. Is it necessary to stay for the entire day?
  Yes. In order to be fully reimbursed for your expenses, you need to attend the workshop from 9:30am-3:00pm. Activities are scheduled throughout the day, and your active participation is essential for the workshop to be a success.
 
  1. How do I make a hotel reservation?
  Call the LAX Crowne Plaze Hotel (310/ 642-7500), ask for "reservations" and identify yourself as a participant in the CSU Information Competence workshop on April 19, 2002 to reserve a room at the night before (Thursday, April 18, 2002) at the special state rate of $84/night.
 
  1. Will transportation be available to and from the airport?
  Yes, there is a complimentary hotel shuttle to, and from, LAX.
 
  1. I'm driving; how do I get to the hotel?
