Jan Vogel California State University, Dominguez Hills
For over 30 years, Jan Vogel has served the South Bay Workforce Investment
Board (SBWIB) community encompassing the nine cities of El Segundo,
Gardena, Hawthorne, Hermosa Beach, Inglewood, Lawndale, Manhattan
Beach, Redondo Beach and Carson. Under his leadership, SBWIB has taken
a leading role in the development of job training services, not only within
Los Angeles County, but throughout Southern California.
During his tenure as executive director of SBWIB, the Board has directed
formation of the South Bay Business Resource Network, a new WIB-based
business services program serving the South Bay business community;
administered the $18 million Private Industry Council Aerospace Network
(PAN), the single largest grant of its kind in Department of Labor history;
received the first Employment Training Panel-funded welfare-to-work upgrade
training award at $1.1 million; and formed the South Bay School-to-Work
Opportunities Alliance that brought millions of dollars to local school districts.
Vogel was an adjunct professor in the School of Professional Studies at
Pepperdine University. He received his MA in education and BA in political
science and economics from CSU Dominguez Hills. He holds a California
administrative services credential from CSU Long Beach and a lifetime K-12
teaching credential.
