Alumni Advocates of the Year

Glenn Schwartz
California State University, San Marcos

A 2000 graduate of CSU San Marcos, Glenn Schwartz joined the CSU San Marcos Alumni Association Board in 2002 with two purposes in mind: volunteering to help build the Alumni Association into a professional organization and wanting to pursue his strong belief that alumni could make a difference politically for the CSU. Shortly after his arrival on the board, Schwartz filled the newly created board position of Director of Legislative Affairs.

Schwartz worked tirelessly to make legislators aware of CSU San Marcos and the issues important to the campus. Although a small business owner, he took time away from his business to join President Karen Haynes and Director of Legislative Affairs Carol Bonomo on numerous trips to Sacramento in order to lobby and present the needs of the CSU.

In addition, Schwartz updated the Alumni Association Board on issues pertinent to CSU San Marcos and the CSU. He represented CSU San Marcos alumni to the CSU statewide Alumni Council, where he served as a member of the Government Relations Committee.
