Manolo P. Platin Humboldt State University
Manolo Platin was appointed special assistant and legislative analyst for
California’s Office of the Insurance Advisor in January 2007. His primary
functions at State & Consumer Services Agency include analyzing legislation
affecting insurance, probate and workers’ compensation, and assisting the
director with special projects including catastrophe planning and mitigation.
Platin also was an executive fellow in the governor’s Cabinet Office from 2005
to 2006 and a policy consultant for the Vasconcellos Legacy Project in 2005.
From 2004 to 2005, he served as chairman of the California State Student
Association, representing the then 409,000 students of the CSU system. Prior
to that, when serving as Associated Students vice president of student affairs
at Humboldt State, Platin was named by CSSA as advocate of the year in
2003-04. During his time in the student association, he provided advice to
CSSA staff and board members and the state personnel board on how to
increase the number of CSU graduates working in the California civil service
system. Platin graduated from Humboldt State University in 2005.
