Alumni Advocates of the Year

Lori G. Macdonald

Lori G. Macdonald
California State University, Channel Islands

Lori Macdonald has been coordinator of early recruitment at CSU Channel Islands since 2006. She also is a founding lifetime member of the CSUCI Alumni & Friends Association and has served on the association’s Board of Directors, held the position of vice president and chaired the Board Community Events and Programs Committee.

Macdonald’s experience with enrollment services and deep understanding of financial aid made her a tremendous asset to the campus Advocacy Team. She is an expert on the finer details of Cal Grants, proving to be a great asset in Sacramento due to the Cal Grant bills in the legislature in the last few years (AB 2813 and AB 302). She also attended the 2006 and 2007 CSU Alumni Legislative Days and was consulted in 2005 for her knowledge on Cal Grants and on student access, EOP and EAP programs.

In addition, Macdonald was a strong advocate on Proposition 1D, the successful initiative that brought more than $80 million to the CSU Channel Islands campus and has continually supported the CSU in its budget advocacy for the last three years. She graduated from CSU Channel Islands with a BA in liberal studies and a minor in history in 2005.
