Alumni Advocates of the Year
Ash Hayes San Diego State University
Dr. Ash Hayes has been highly active in the San Diego State University Alumni
Association and the CSU Alumni Council for 10 years. He has been a member
of the CSU Alumni Council since 2000 and served as CSU Alumni Council
Secretary in 2004. Prior to that, he was San Diego State Alumni President
in 2000.
Hayes has distinguished himself by nurturing many political contacts and
lobbying tirelessly on behalf of higher education, the California State
University and San Diego State. He has served on the SDSU Ambassadors
for Higher Education since 2002 and was a San Diego State Sacramento
Legislative Day attendee from 2003-07.
Hayes has held appointments under former Presidents Gerald Ford and Ronald
Reagan to lead national physical fitness and sports programs, and served as
executive director, director of sports administration and director of federal/state
relations at the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports in
Washington, D.C., during the 1970s and 1980s. He has written more than
80 manuals, guides and articles on physical fitness. In addition, he has given
over 500 presentations around the world, and continues to administer health,
physical education and athletic programs to San Diego Unified Schools. |
