Disaster Preparedness Sarath Gunatilake (Long Beach), Louise S. Gresham (San Diego) Identify a consortium of faculty who are leaders in the field of Disaster Preparedness and Response to share across campuses innovative models of curriculum in this area. The consortium will host a one-day systemwide conference on Curricular Models in Disaster Preparedness on the campus of CSU Long Beach to bring together faculty experts to share model curriculum and deliver methods with their colleagues.
Educational Administration Lori Kim (Los Angeles) Host a two-day retreat to respond to the need of the CSU Educational Leadership Programs to prepare effective instructional leaders for K-12 public schools. The Project proposed to develop systematic and cohesive field experience activities that would provide valuable learning opportunities for the students to link theories and practices.
Foreign Languages Edith Benkov (San Diego), Jeffrey Reeder (Sonoma) Develop a test bank that can be used system-wide in Foreign Languages (French, German and Spanish) for purposes of assessment, placement, and exit requirements.
Journalism Rachele Kanigel (San Francisco) Host a two-day summit for educators in the CSU and California Community Colleges to promote communication and collaboration among journalism educators; bring journalism educators in the CSU and community college system together to talk about how best to prepare the next generation of journalists; educate journalism educators about the shifting media landscape; help journalism educators plan curricula to respond to changes in the field; seek, share and discuss innovative approaches to teaching journalism; and begin a dialogue about journalism education that can continue in the form of listserv discussions, collaborative research and future meetings.
Kinesiology Thomas Koesterer (Humboldt), Scott Sailor (Fresno) Host a colloquium of the California State University Athletic Training Educators to share knowledge and experience between the nine CSU campuses that offer the Kinesiology – Athletic Training Option; work collaboratively to address current issues facing all Athletic Training Education Programs in the CSU; by the year 2014, accredited athletic training programs will be required to offer Athletic Training as a major; attract and recruit underserved populations and ethnically diverse students.
Production and Operations Management John Wu (Monterey Bay) Sponsor a Production and Operations Management (POM) faculty two-day conference and help develop a website where POM faculty can exchange ideas. Determine how POM can efficiently support the business curriculum, and how POM faculty can learn from each other to deliver the POM courses effectively.
Science Education Ed Walton (Pomona), Bev Marcum (Chico) Convene a Science Education Colloquium to bring together faculty from both science content and science methods areas from each one of the 23 CSU campuses in order to assess needs, share innovations, and form collaborations in science education teaching and curricula.
