Host University Placement

The Office of International Programs places students at one of the host universities based on academic and programmatic considerations. Applicants may express a preference in their applications, but must be fully prepared to accept placement at any of the host universities. IP is affiliated with the following five institutions of higher education in the United Kingdom:

Bradford - Once the center of the British wool and textile industry, the city of Bradford has increasingly diversified its manufacturing and commercial base. The city has a lively civic and cultural life and a young university which enrolls about 10,000 students.

Bristol - The port city of Bristol with its scenic surroundings is home to one of Britain's great traditional universities and to about 16,000 students. With a lively theatre and music scene, and a strong media tradition, Bristol still retains the personal atmosphere of a small but cosmopolitan city.

Hull - Historically, Hull was well known only to those concerned with sea trade. It was Britain's premier east coast seaport as early as the 12th century and consolidated this position after the Industrial Revolution. The area combines the advantages of a city with the attraction of a market town. The university has a friendly reputation and a well-equipped library and computer center. The university enrolls around 13,500 students.

Kingston - The university, situated in an attractive suburb of London, close to Hampton Court and Wimbledon, is committed to providing an education relevant to student's careers and needs. The university enrolls about 18,000 students in science, engineering, business, law, liberal arts, music, and design.

Swansea - Surrounded by green rolling hills and pastoral Welsh scenery is the ancient coastal city of Swansea. Home of Wales' national poet, Dylan Thomas, Swansea is also the site of Swansea University. With an enrollment of over 10,000 undergraduates, the University of Swansea was recently awarded the Times Higher Education Supplement Award for the UK's Best Student Experience award, competing against the rest of the Universities across the UK! Swansea University offers a challenging academic program in a personally supportive atmosphere. Swansea is an ideal location for accessing all parts of the UK. It boasts a ferry-link to Ireland and a direct route to London, which is just 3 hours away.
