In the last half century, Japan has become a world leader in modern industry and technology. Despite rapid growth and social changes, the Japanese have adhered to many of their traditions. The contrast produced is striking today, particularly in Tokyo, Japan's capital. A sprawling and bustling metropolis, it is one of the world's largest cities, with a population of over 12 million. It is a fascinating place to live and to study.
The CSU International Programs in Japan is offered in cooperation with Waseda University. A private, nonsectarian institution, Waseda is one of the largest and most renowned universities in Japan. Currently, almost 50,000 students are in attendance, including about 1,600 foreign students.
The international College of Waseda University, where CSU students attend classes along with Japanese Waseda students, offers a program of Japanese language, history, politics, economics, culture and society. To assist the CSU students, IP maintains a study center staff consisting of a Resident Director, who is a CSU faculty member, and a local staff member.
