International Programs

Germany: Costs

Economically, IP is the most affordable study abroad program available to CSU students. Why stay home when you can earn CSU credit overseas for about the same amount of money? We have provided you with a cost comparison below. The figures shown under "Estimated Costs" are projection based on the experience of the 2010-11 IP participants.

The figures listed represent a comprehensive budget for an entire academic year (roundtrip airfare, housing, meals, books, monthly personal expenses, CSU resident fees, etc.). These estimates are useful for planning purposes, but are subject to change due to currency exchange rate fluctuations and inflation. Participants receive an updated statement of costs upon their acceptance into the program. Graduate/post baccalaureate and nonresident students must pay additional fees.

Baden-Württemberg Fellowship Program

The State of Baden-Württemberg provides a limited number of fellowships to students for study in Germany. The minimum monthly installment is 400 Euros per month. The fellowship can be awarded for up to 11 months. Students from all academic fields are welcome to apply. All applicants must have completed at least four semesters of German prior to departure.

Priority is given to students from universities that have formal ties to German universities in the State of Baden-Württemberg. Therefore, your application must be sent to Germany by the Office of International Programs (OIP). Submit your letter of application to your IP Campus Coordinator by February 1. A complete application consists of the following:

  • A formal letter of application in which the student outlines his/her academic goals.
  • Strong foreign language faculty recommendation.
  • Official university transcripts.
  • Awards are announced by early July.

*The CSU makes every effort to keep student costs to a minimum. Fees listed in published schedules or student accounts may need to be increased when public funding is inadequate. Therefore, CSU must reserve the right, even after initial fee payments are made, to increase or modify any listed fees, without notice, until the date when instruction for a particular program has begun. All CSU listed fees should be regarded as estimates that are subject to change upon approval by The Board of Trustees.
