Federal and State Legislation
Federal and state law makers are working to refine
and create legislation to address issues related to confidentiality,
privacy, identity theft, intellectual property and cyber security.
These issues continue to attract significant public attention. Many
of these bills may not be specific to higher education but, universities
dealing with medical records, financial records, and foreign student
visas require the university community to comply with these laws.
