San Jose State

San José State is the top provider of engineering, science and business graduates to Silicon Valley, the world’s high tech capital. A recent U.S. News & World Report study ranked San José State among the top 10 public master’s universities in the West, and the College of Engineering ranked 14th in the nation among schools offering bachelor’s and master’s degrees. San José State and the city of San José have built an award-winning joint library for the community and the university.

San José State University’s annual impact on the Bay Area region is enormous. Annual spending related to San José State University in the Bay Area region ($479 million) generates a total impact of $829 million on the Bay Area region’s economy. This impact sustains nearly 11,000 jobs in the region, and generates nearly $48 million per year in tax revenue. Even greater—more than $2 billion of the earnings by alumni from San José State University are attributable to their CSU degrees.

 

San José State University improves California’s economy with research, education, and an entrepreneurial spirit. Business and professional services are the backbone to a vibrant knowledge economy. At San José State, nearly 200 graduates have founded, co-founded or serve as top-level executives of major public and private companies.
