The Chancellor's Office offers employees an employee assistance program (EAP), which provides free, confidential counseling and referral services. OptumHealth Behavioral Health Solutions of California (formerly PacifiCare Behavioral Health) administers the service. Employees and any members of their household, including dependents living away from home, have 24-hour access to services that cover:
- Emotional well-being: Stress and depression, family matters, domestic
violence, grief and loss
- Work issues: Co-worker relationships, job burnout, career planning,
performance concerns
- Parenting and child care: Becoming a parent/exploring adoption,
child-care options and referrals, parenting skills, strategies for
working parents
- Education: School selection, college searches/applications/scholarships,
tutoring, school performance, special needs
- Wellness services: StopSmoking program, Taking Care of Diabetes program,
Taking Charge of Depression program
- Legal assistance: Divorce, landlord/tenant conflicts, wills/consumer
issues, free 30-minute consultations, referral to legal specialists
- Financial planning: Help with credit reports, debt management,
budgeting, dealing with delinquent payments
- Substance abuse and recovery: Alcohol/drug abuse, eating disorders,
treatment centers/detox services, support groups/community services
- Resources for seniors: Elder care options and referrals, the aging
process, long-distance caregiving, community programs and services
