  2. When processing a Transaction 405 to increase the employee's time base in the position, or if the employee's total time base is increasing because of an appointment to an additional position:

    1. Review the retirement code in Item 505.

    2. Determine if the new time base value, in combination with other CalPERS eligibility criteria, requires that the employee be placed in CalPERS membership.

    3. If CalPERS membership is a requirement, enter the appropriate code in Item 505, or process a Transaction 505.
