CSU/CSUEU Memorandum of Understanding on Salary

The CSU and the California State University Employees Union (CSUEU) have reached a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the impact of the CSU/CFA Tentative Agreement on previously negotiated CSUEU General Salary Increases (GSIs). This Agreement is conditioned on the ratification of the Tentative Agreement with CFA.

In the 2014-2017 Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU and CSUEU, parties agreed that in fiscal years 2015/2016 and 2016/2017, there would be a 2% GSI effective on July 1 of each year unless the CSU negotiated a salary Agreement with CFA that provided for salary increases greater than those negotiated with CSUEU. CSUEU would then be contractually entitled to the difference between the two Agreements.

Under the terms of the new Memorandum of Understanding, which will take effect if the Tentative Agreement with CFA is ratified, CSUEU members will receive a 3% GSI on July 1, 2016, and a further 2% GSI on June 30, 2017. The 2017 General Salary Increase will take effect on the last day of the current CSU/CSUEU Collective Bargaining Agreement.

The CSU entered into the same contractual language with a number of other unions, and negotiations are ongoing in respect of those Agreements.
