The Graduate Experience
As a younger and smaller university, California State University, San Marcos is
developing innovative master's programs that provide advanced study along with practical
learning in a diverse and high-technology learning environment.
Currently, CSU San Marcos offers master's degrees in the following 10 areas of study,
and more are being added each year: biology, business administration (MBA), computer
science, education, history, literature and writing, mathematics, psychology, sociology,
and Spanish.
A joint doctorate in educational leadership is also available.
CSU San Marcos' graduate programs offer close intellectual interaction with faculty
mentors as the student develops focused knowledge and expertise in a subject area. A
graduate student will complete advanced coursework in small class venues as well as engage
in independent study and research, scholarship, or creative activity. CSU San Marcos graduate
programs will continue to grow, but its innovative and personalized educational approach will remain.
