The Graduate Experience
Graduate studies is a large part of California State University, San Bernardino. At any given time approximately one-quarter of the students attending CSU San Bernardino already have bachelor's degrees and are earning certificates, credentials, or master's degrees, or are pursuing knowledge for their own pleasure. Graduate studies offers varied advanced courses of study, including professional programs leading to the world of work, and academic master's degrees preparing the student for the PhD as well as advanced professional degrees, such as medicine and law. Nationally recognized and nationally accredited programs are among the graduate studies offerings. A Doctor of Education (EdD) in Educational Leadership is being planned for fall 2007, pending CSU approval and WASC accreditation.

Most classes are offered at convenient hours for working students. Financial assistance, research, and travel funds are available, with some special financial aid programs aimed at creating a more diverse university faculty.

Student Success
CSU San Bernardino offers a large number of professional, occupational, and traditional academic programs at the master's level, so that new and returning students can gain up-to-date skills and knowledge. To foster excellence and anticipate the needs of its service region, CSU San Bernardino has identified six programmatic areas beyond its traditional liberal arts curricula for continued emphasis and expansion:

  • Education programs to prepare teachers to serve a multicultural society,
  • Applied science and engineering programs to support technology development in Southern California,
  • Management and administration programs to graduate future business and public agency leaders,
  • Health and helping professions to support the burgeoning population in the CSU San Bernardino service area,
  • International studies to prepare graduates to function in a truly global community, and
  • Fine and performing arts to enrich lives.

San Bernardino Campus
CSU San Bernardino is the sole public, comprehensive university serving the Riverside-San Bernardino Counties of Southern California. It was founded in 1965 and has a student body of 16,000. Because of recent growth, new facilities have been established (11 new buildings in 10 years), providing students, faculty, and staff with an excellent learning and working environment equipped with superior technological capabilities.
