Trustees to Consider Early Start Program

  • The CSU Board of Trustees will consider recommendations on Early Start Programs for university campuses that could require students who have not yet tested "CSU college ready" in English and/or mathematics to acquire those skills prior to matriculation at a CSU campus.

  • Trustees will consider specific recommendations, including reciprocity among the 23 campuses for Early Start Programs completed at another CSU, as well as communicating about financial aid available during the programs. A team to provide guidance and a timeline for the implementation of campus-specific programs will also be recommended.

arrow Measuring Advancement in Support of the CSU

  • CSU Trustees will receive a report on campus university advancement goals and performance. For 2008-09, the California State University system’s net return on fundraising investment in relation to gift commitments of $366 million was 592%. This represents almost $6 raised for every dollar invested.

  • Campuses are divided into three peer groups that take into consideration the number of full time professional fundraisers, endowment market value, and the number of individual donors. All three groups experienced a decline in fundraising as a percentage of general fund allocation from 2007-08 to 2008-09, yet campus fundraising continued to hold strong based on three-year averages.

arrow Priority Housing for Foster Youth

  • CSU Trustees will act on proposed Title 5 language to give campus housing priority to current or former foster youth, in accordance with state law AB 1393 (2009). The Title 5 language was discussed at the CSU Board of Trustees meeting in January.
