Meet the 2009 Awardees
CSU San Marcos
RosaAngelica Vogel came to California from Mexico when she was 17 years old. At 19, she started working as a medical assistant, attending community college at night. Married at 24 then later divorced, RosaAngelica is now a single parent with two children, one of whom has autism.
She attained a 4.00 GPA last fall during her first year at CSU San Marcos and is an active member of the Human Development Club and the Nu Upsilon Honor Society. She also assisted disabled adults of the High Hopes Center in Temecula by helping with their annual holiday dinner and dance.
RosaAngelica is completing her bachelor's degree in human development and has been accepted into the CSU San Marcos Nursing Program for spring 2010. After obtaining her registered nurse (RN) license, she plans to continue her education and become a nurse practitioner working in a community clinic where she can serve the Hispanic and underinsured community.
