California State University, San Bernardino
Recipient, William Randolph CSU Trustees' Awards for Outstanding Achievement
Jamie Hose had a "heartbeat for knowledge" and her resilience and perseverance led her to be admitted to CSU San Bernardino in 1999 after having attended 16 different schools. She was the first in her family to graduate from college. After earning her bachelor's degree in liberal arts in 2003, Jamie took a few years to work with foster youth and to participate in AmeriCorps where she developed her leadership skills. Currently, Jamie is working on her master's degree in educational counseling and psychology, is the president of MPACT Club, and co-leads the English Conversation Hour for international students on campus. She is working as a substitute teacher while earning her master's degree and maintaining a 4.0 GPA. Jamie's goal is to become a school counselor so that she can "take her place on the wall" as a mentor, helping students discover the possibilities they have within themselves.
