Maribel Garcia

Maribel Garcia was born in Mexico and immigrated to the United States with her family at a young age. Her family life has been one of economic hardship. During her high school years, she struggled with academics and attendance. Maribel credits her high school counselor with setting her on the right path in life and teaching her the importance of education. She also praises her parents for providing her with support that motivates and encourages her to achieve what they did not. Maribel has had a very successful academic career: she graduated from CSU Stanislaus, magna cum laude, with a BA in psychology along with magna cum laude honors for her 3.61 GPA. She is now pursuing a master's degree in education with a 4.0 cumulative GPA. She is determined to reach her goal of being a school counselor to help future generations of minority students as her school counselor helped her.
