Apply for the 2016 CSU Trustees' Awards

Application Process

Financial Aid Offices on each campus will review the applications to ensure that they meet all requirements. Then, in consultation with the campus president, each campus will select and forward one nomination to the CSU Foundation.

Each nominee will be awarded a scholarship in the amount of $6,000 for the 2015-16 academic year.

The nominations will be reviewed by an Awards Selection Committee, composed of leaders of the Board of Trustees, the chair of the Academic Senate, the president of the Alumni Council, and the chair of the California State Student Association.

The nominee(s) who best demonstrates need and merit is designated the Trustee Emeritus Ali C. Razi Scholar and receives a $12,000 scholarship.

The nominee(s) who has contributed the most to his or her home, university or global community will be designated the Trustee Emeritus Murray L. Galinson Scholar and will receive a $8,000 scholarship.

The nominee from San Josť State University is designated the Trustee William Hauck Scholar and receives a $6,000 scholarship.

An outstanding nominee will be designated the Chancellor Charles B. Reed Scholar and will receive a $6,000 scholarship.

A nominee who exemplifies significant achievement both academically and in service to the community is designated the CSU Foundation Board of Governors' Scholar sponsored by Ronald R. Barhorst and Mitzi Barhorst and receives a $6,000 scholarship.

Recognition is given for outstanding achievement by a first generation student; the student will be designated the Southwest Airlines Scholar and will receive a $6,000 scholarship.

All recipients of the Trustees' Award will be invited to attend the awards presentation at the September 2015 Board of Trustees meeting at the Chancellor's Office in Long Beach (transportation will be provided). They will then be honored at a reception following the presentation.
