Meet the 2010 Awardees
Fresno State
William Thomas Daly's commitment to obtaining a college education has been fueled by a desire not to repeat the mistakes made by his parents. Living through poverty, an uncertain future and the emotional damage of a traumatic childhood, he used his past difficulties and his desire for a better future as motivation to overcome the vicious cycle of drug use followed by his heroin-addicted parents to become a role model to those around him. Today, Tommy is a senior political science major and maintains a 3.62 GPA at CSU Fresno.
Tommy regularly contributes his time to organizations such as the American Red Cross Save-A-Family campaign, Children's Hospital of Central California, March of Dimes, Boys 2 Men/Girls 2 Women and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. He is president of the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity, vice president of fundraising for the Order of Omega and a tribal member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.
After graduating from CSU Fresno, Tommy plans to pursue a master's of public administration degree and become a city manager.
