Jamie Flores is a sophomore honors student, with a 3.98 GPA, on a mission to put her training in nutrition and dietetics to work by educating pupils about the dangers of obesity and the need for a healthy diet. Jamie mentors a 10-year-old boy who attends a school for troubled and abused children; works as a volunteer at Buddy Systems, which helps develop the motor skills of physically and mentally challenged youngsters through horseback riding; and helps out at several community and on-campus events. She plans to take the information she is learning in the Nutrition Science program to teach young children the benefits of following five-a-day and food pyramid guidelines for good health. Jamie has a commitment to education, and a desire to develop the skills needed to be a leader in the fight against childhood obesity and to serve her community.
