Andrea Nance plans to become a public health nurse to help her community. She has overcome many hardships and setbacks in her life on her path to achieve this goal. Following troubles at home, Andrea dropped out of high school and began working to help support herself. Andrea did not give up on her higher education, though, and eventually pursued studies to obtain her nursing degree. She had seen community health nurses affect change in the lives of those who need it most, and in fact, nurses had been helpful and supportive to her. Andrea reaches out to her community through volunteer endeavors, mainly through her work with AmeriCorps Bridging Borders and California Nursing Studentsí Association.
