Cal Poly Pomona
Recipient, William Randolph Hearst/CSU Trustees' Award for Outstanding Achievement
Lesley Felton was born in Chicago in 1978. When she was five, her father suffered a severe stroke and his need for constant care during the remaining three years of his life left the family without a home. She attended six elementary schools in three states. On her own at 16, she graduated from high school with the highest honors and enrolled at University of California, Santa Cruz. In 1999, a year after her mother's death from liver cancer, Lesley was determined to complete her undergraduate degree. In June 2001, she graduated with awards and scholarships, as well as high honors, with a degree in community studies. Lesley is currently in a master's degree program in architecture at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. She hopes to earn her architectural license and create a design/build firm dedicated to designing and constructing environmentally friendly buildings for both residential and commercial usage.
