Federal Relations

The CSU Office of Federal Relations (OFR) works in Washington, D.C., to advance the interests of the nation's largest and most diverse university system. The OFR serves as a resource to Washington-based policymakers, including the California Congressional delegation, as well as to educational associations and media. The OFR also leads system efforts each year to formulate and coordinate the federal priorities of the CSU's 23 campuses.

Federal Spotlight

This spring, the CSU will award more than 100,000 degrees at commencements across its 23 campuses. Among the graduates are 59 students who are part of the first group to earn a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from the CSU. The CSU provides outstanding training to students who go on to make a difference working for California and throughout the world. Federal investments like the Pell Grant program, the Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG) program, and Work-Study provide opportunities to students who might otherwise be unable to attend college. In 2012-13 alone, almost half (nearly 40,000) of CSU bachelor’s degrees awarded were to Pell Grant recipients.
