Clara Potes-Fellow is a nonprofit management and communication expert with proven managerial and strategic skills in the corporate, government and education fields. During her career she has successfully managed community relations programs and communication strategies for a variety of organizations, handled multiple public relations crises and managed civic engagement efforts with external stakeholders.
Currently, she works for the California State University system as director of community partnerships. She develops strategic partnerships to increase college enrollment among underrepresented students, leads the CSU Asian American and Pacific Islander Initiative and produces the External Relations monthly newsletter.
Prior to joining the CSU, Ms. Potes-Fellow worked for Southern California Edison, Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority, Clinton/Gore Presidential Campaign, La Opinion, and KSCI-Channel 18.
She serves on the Board of Directors of the Boy Scouts of America, San Gabriel Valley Council, the Pasadena City College Philanthropic Foundation, the Boyle Heights Learning Collaborative and on the Board of Champions of Hispanas Organized for Political Equality (HOPE). Previously, she served on the Board of Directors of HOPE, the National Hispanic Media Coalition, the Chicano News Media Association, the Bilingual Foundation of the Arts, and the YWCA.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in communications at Javeriana University in Bogotá, a master’s degree in communication management at the Annenberg School of Communication at USC, and is a candidate for an MBA degree at American Jewish University in May 2013.
