Executive Order:

Supersedes:

Executive Order 866

Title:

Category II - Orientation Fee

This executive order is issued pursuant to Education Code Sections 89035, 66028, 89711, 89712 and Board of Trustees Standing Orders, Section II(i) and consonant with Executive Order 1102.

Effective fall semester 2018, California State University, Monterey Bay is authorized to establish a Category II, campus-based mandatory Orientation Fee at the one-time rate of $140 for all new undergraduate, degree-seeking state-supported students (freshman and transfer students). Revenue from this fee will be used to provide a comprehensive orientation experience and improve first-year retention rates.

Board of Trustees fee policy requires that the revenue generated by this fee be reviewed annually by the student fee advisory committee and reported to the Chancellor's Office in the annual fee report. If balances exist without an expenditure plan, the campus may be asked to reduce or suspend the fee until such time that all balances are spent on the program indicated in this executive order.

In accordance with Section 89721(l) of the Education Code, revenue collected from student fees shall be deposited in a local trust account.
