Student Excellence Fund/Mandatory Materials, Services and Facilities Fee |
This executive order is issued pursuant to Education Code Section 89035 and Section II(i) of the Standing Orders of the Board of Trustees, and is consonant with Executive Order Number 1054. Effective February, 2011, California State University, Long Beach is authorized to establish a mandatory Student Excellence Fund, as a Category II Materials, Services and Facilities Fee at the rate of $94 per semester, or $188 per academic year, with a reduced fee rate of $35 charged during the summer term. Revenue from this fee will go toward the following eight (8) priorities which comprise the Student Excellence Fund:
A portion of this fee serves to relieve funds from ASI and the Instructionally Related Activities fee that previously went toward Intercollegiate Athletics. This allows for the re-direction of revenue within those funds to other programs under their purview, consistent with education code sections 89300 and 89721 respectively Board of Trustees fee policy requires that the revenue generated by this fee be reviewed annually by the student fee advisory committee and reported to the Chancellor’s Office in the annual fee survey. If balances exist without an expenditure plan, the campus may be asked to reduce or suspend the fee until such time that all balances are spent on the priorities indicated in this executive order. In accordance with Section 89721(l) of the Education Code, revenue collected from student fees shall be deposited in a local trust account. |
