Registration Information for CSU Students
Presenting student authors will receive a registration code by email notifying them of their poster acceptance. All CSU students will be charged a $50 registration fee that can be paid by credit card in the registration system. Registration includes lodging and meals provided by CSUPERB at the Anaheim Marriott, along with access to all sessions at the symposium (a total value of over $375 this year).
CSUPERB provides transportation reimbursements up to $150 for CSUPERB-funded presenting student authors. The $150 transportation reimbursement is in addition to lodging and meal costs covered by CSUPERB and is inclusive of any parking fees. These funds may not be used to reimburse the required $50 symposium registration fee. CSUPERB funds up to 5 students from each faculty-led group.
Registration Information for CSU Faculty/Staff/Postdocs
All CSU faculty/staff/postdocs will be charged a $75 registration fee payable by credit card in the registration system. Registration includes lodging and meals provided by CSUPERB at the Anaheim Marriott, along with access to all sessions at the symposium (a total value of over $525 this year).
CSUPERB provides transportation reimbursements to campuses (up to $150) for CSU Faculty/Staff/Postdoc attendees. This amount is in addition to lodging and meal costs covered by CSUPERB and is inclusive of any parking fees. These funds may not be used to reimburse the required $75 symposium registration fee.
Registration Information for CSU administrators, industry professionals, other academics, legislative staff & elected officials
Symposium registration will be $75, payable by credit card in the registration system. Registration includes meals and access to all sessions at the symposium. If you need lodging at the Anaheim Marriott, you can get the CSU symposium group rate ($84/night) and reserve a room using this link.
Registration Information for Speakers and Career Networking Session (CNS) participants
The CSUPERB Program Office will register speakers and CNS participants. Please contact Pam Branger in the CSUPERB office (619-594-2822).
When making travel arrangements, the closest airport to the Anaheim Marriott is John Wayne Orange County Airport only 14 miles from the hotel. Los Angeles International Airport is approximately 35 miles from the Marriott. Ground transportation information can be found on the hotel website. The symposium schedule will start with a series of optional Thursday afternoon and evening workshops; the formal program begins 8 am Friday morning and ends with the symposium banquet around 9pm Saturday evening. In addition CSUPERB Faculty Consensus Group (FCG) members should remember that the FCG meeting will be held Sunday, January 6 (8:30-3pm), at the Anaheim Marriott and make registration and travel arrangements accordingly. Strategic Planning Council (SPC) members are asked to plan on remaining for an additional one hour meeting ending at 3:50pm.
The hotel has a limited number of rooms available at the group rate for three days before and three days after the symposium. Individuals interested in obtaining rooms for their personal use during these periods can contact CSUPERB at the numbers below for more information.
Transportation Reimbursements for CSU faculty and eligible students
Transportation reimbursements will be available for individuals eligible for funding (see above). The process for non-San Diego State University campuses is that you submit a travel claim through your own campus who in turn files a separate claim to recover the funds from CSUPERB. CSUPERB provides our fiscal contacts on your campus with a listing of those individuals who are eligible to receive the transportation support from the program. CSUPERB's fiscal contact on your campus is usually in the department or college offices. CSUPERB encourages you to work with your department and college in seeking any necessary travel approvals prior to your travel to the CSU Biotechnology Symposium. Due to the state's fiscal crisis, many campuses have imposed stricter requirements for travel approvals. In addition, some campuses have special requirements for non-campus employed students. Please seek campus travel approvals well in advance of the symposium! Also, remember that CSUPERB transportation support (or any other type of CSUPERB funding) cannot be used to reimburse the symposium registration fee.
Attendees from San Diego State University should contact James Schmitt by email or at (619) 594-5299 to arrange for reimbursement before the symposium. SDSU students who were eligible for transportation funding were sent an email in November with instructions for required pre-travel steps. CSUPERB will not reimburse SDSU Research Foundation paid transportation expenses.
