Poster Session Information
There will be two poster sessions at the 22nd Annual CSU Biotechnology Symposium on Friday evening (8-10 pm, Jan. 8, 2010) and Saturday afternoon (3:30 -5:30 pm, Jan. 9). The Faculty Consensus Group committee selected 225 poster abstracts from 22 CSU campuses this year.
- Detailed information concerning poster numbers, locations and individual poster schedules will be available at the Symposium.
- This year, the poster boards provided are approximately 4' high x 8' wide. Please limit the size of your entire poster or poster sections to 4' high x 8' wide.
- CSUPERB will provide poster numbers for each poster that correspond to the final program; don't worry about knowing your poster number beforehand.
- Most posters will be presented at one of the two poster sessions. Please plan to set-up posters early in the day so that symposium participants can wander through during breaks to preview the poster sessions.
- Nagel and Eden Finalists will present their posters during both poster sessions.
- Presenting authors are asked to be at their posters to answer any questions about their work during their assigned poster session.
Helpful Tips for Poster Preparation
- Be sure to include the abstract title, author names, and the institution where the work was completed in large letters at the top of the poster so symposium participants can find your poster.
- Make sure to include an acknowledgments section, listing anyone (or any granting agency, including CSUPERB!) who might have supported or helped your work.
- Use a type size that can be read easily from a considerable distance (4 feet or more). Try using a font size between 14 – 20 pt. Select a legible font such as Arial, Times Roman, Times New Roman, or Palatino.
- Order your poster sections logically so that others who are unfamiliar with your work can follow your presentation. A good method is setting up your poster in a column format so that it can be read top to bottom, and then left to right.
- Come prepared with any relevant handouts you may wish to share and business cards to hand out.
- When choosing a background, remember that neutral or gray colors will be easier on the eyes than a bright color. In addition, color photos look best when mounted on gray.
