Rajni Garg

Rajni Garg joined CSUPERB as Director of Grants and Awards in January 2009. She is responsible for administering the grants and awards programs for CSU faculty and students system-wide. Before joining CSUPERB, Rajni worked as a Research Associate Professor at CSU San Marcos, San Diego State University and Clarkson University. During this period, Rajni led research projects in computer-assisted molecular design, bioinformatics, cheminformatics and computational chemistry, funded by both NIH and private industry. She taught biochemistry and medicinal chemistry and mentored 18 undergraduate, masters and doctoral level student researchers, including six ACS national graduate student award winners. She has published 42 journal articles and two book chapters and has received the 2005 ACS Cycle of Excellence Award for the most accessed article. Previously she held research positions at Pomona College and BioByte Corporation, where she worked for development of chemical and biological databases for drug discovery and environmental toxicity. Rajni began her career as a lecturer at Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani, India. She received her master's degree in chemistry from the University of Delhi, and a Ph.D. in chemistry from Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani, India.
