Budget Balances Needs with Fiscal Realities

The CSU Board of Trustees approved its 2013-14 budget request of the Governor and the legislature Nov. 14, which seeks to balance the system's continued unmet needs with the state's fiscal challenges. The CSU is requesting a total of $371.9 million over its current baseline budget that includes state funds, tuition and systemwide fees. The CSU’s 23 campuses are home to more than 460 sworn peace officers who undergo the same rigorous academy as county and city officers, as well as an additional 16 weeks of specialized campus training.
