Season is passionate about connecting service learning into the broader priorities of
educational institutions, and her systemwide position provides her with an incredible
opportunity to work with this passion.
Through her work at the Chancellor's Office during the past five years, Season has learned
about the unique service-learning program on each CSU campus. She has also directed
multidimensional systemwide initiatives, including the first systemwide assessment of service
learning, and envisioned future directions for civic engagement and service learning in the
CSU. Since 2003, Season has served as the administrative director for the Office of Community
Service Learning and been responsible for leading systemwide initiatives, crafting
publications, fostering partnerships within the CSU system and beyond, and planning and
facilitating systemwide meetings. Previously Season was the coordinator of service-learning
programs, which included two federally funded grant programs,
Service Learning for Family Health and
Institutionalizing Community Service
Learning in the CSU (2000-2003).
Season began her involvement in service learning in 1997 as a student leader of the
service-learning program at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo where she facilitated reflection sessions
and cultivated community partnerships. She also developed a training program to help student
leaders understand the depth and complexities of service learning. In addition, Season was an
active leader in a co-curricular service program, for which she later served as the staff
advisor.
Season is a proud alumna of the CSU system, as she received her undergraduate degree in
nutritional science from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and completed her master's degree in public
administration from CSU Long Beach. Synthesizing these two disciplines, she has a strong
interest in policy, administration, and health issues. In her free time, Season enjoys
cooking nutritious meals and snacks, making lists, and doing yoga.
