This session will provide an update on changes to the law and address current hot topics—as they pertain to the CSU construction environment and specific provisions of our construction management procedures and the application of public works contract law.
Hot topics will include (but not limited to): public records access; conflict of interest; law as it affects different delivery methods; labor compliance; design/build and design/assist trade contractors; responsive versus responsible bidders; appropriate standard of care for architects.
The training will close with a presentation on the Philosophies of Project Delivery Methods: How to choose the best delivery method for your project. This segment will provide a smooth transition from construction law to project collaboration—training occurring the next day, Tuesday, May 14.
Important note regarding materials:
- For those who currently are in possession of the ‘Law of Design and Construction’ manual issued at the 2011 training (of the same name), inserts will be provided to update sections that have changed. Please bring your notebooks to the training.
- Alternatively, complete updated notebooks can be ordered for $25.00 when registering for the training.
Inserts and pre-ordered notebooks will be available for pickup at the May 13 training.
This program is designed for campus planning, project management, plant operations and procurement staff.

Payment can be made by Visa, MasterCard, American Express or alternatively, Cash Posting Order (CPO). All payments must be received no later than Monday, April 29, 2013. No payment will be accepted the day of training.
Cancellation Policy
All cancellations are subject to a $10.00 cancellation fee. No cancellations will be accepted after Monday, April 29, 2013. Substitutions can occur at any time.
