Architecture and Engineering Sustainability

According to the US Green Building Council, in the United States buildings account for 65% of electricity consumption, 30% of greenhouse gas emissions, 30% of raw materials use, and generate 30% of waste sent to landfills. Sustainable building practices conserve natural resources, improve air and water quality, and protect ecosystems and biodiversity.

CSU has committed itself to sustainable building practices by incorporating the local geography in building design, minimizing operating costs maximizing energy and water efficiency, and choosing materials and systems whose total life cycle, from manufacture to replacement, minimize environmental impacts.
