Bob Linscheid is a managing director of Innovate North State, the leading regional innovation catalyst organization in the North State. Innovate North State’s vision is to make the North State the most economically competitive rural region in the United State by 2017 by focusing on innovative growth companies within the key targeted industry clusters of regional strength, including agriculture and food, manufacturing, clean tech and web/mobile apps/software.
In spring 2012, Linscheid was elected chair of the Board of Trustees of the California State University, overseeing budget, programmatic and policy decision-making for the state’s 23-campus system. In his current role, Linscheid is proactively driving an innovation-focused agenda as a catalyst for growing the California economy through technology commercialization initiatives within the university system and in conjunction with the private sector. He has been a member of the Board of Trustees since 2005 and has served on the CSU Alumni Council since 2000. Linscheid received the Trustee of the Year from the California State Student Association, California State University six of the last seven years.
For the past 25 years, Bob Linscheid has been very involved in the marketing and business attraction of companies to the North State region, and over the past 5 years has specifically focused on innovation creating a local tech council comprised of many of the region’s leading CEOs and entrepreneurs. During this period he has also operated his own public relations & marketing consulting firm specializing in innovation acceleration, talent mobilization and community relations.
In April 2011, Linscheid joined forces with Jon Gregory and Rick Hubbard to form Grow-Jobs which is uniquely positioned to help growth companies succeed in the golden state — leveraging their team’s collective 150+ years in leadership positions in venture-backed start ups, academia, banking, venture capital, technology corporations, economic development, and advocacy. Prior to starting his own company, The Linscheid Company, he served over ten years as the chief executive officer of three different chambers of commerce. Seven of those years were as CEO for the Chico Chamber of Commerce.
He is the past president/chairman of the Board of the Chico Outlaws Professional Baseball Club part of the Golden Baseball League.
Linscheid received his BA and master’s degree in public administration from California State University, Chico and served a term as associated student body president. Linscheid has received numerous service awards including the College of Business Person of the Year, Executive of the Year for the Western Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives, Humanitarian of the Year for Rotary District 5160 in 2003 and is a three-time Paul Harris Fellow Recipient in Rotary International. He is also a founder of Leadership Chico and served as President of Chico Rotary.
Linscheid served as district coordinator for the Polio Eradication Campaign that raised over $600,000 for the eradication of this deadly disease. Linscheid has also been on three Rotaplast missions to South America (Venezuela, Chile and Columbia).
