The Seafloor Mapping Lab (SFML) at CSU Monterey Bay uses acoustic and optical remote sensing techniques to create high-resolution bathymetry and habitat maps of subtidal areas along the California coast. SFML data and products have been used in management of commercially important species such as rockfish and California market squid; assessment of seafloor change for navigational purposes and potential tsunami hazards; and marine protected area (MPA) design and implementation.

The SFML website provides a map gallery and a data library with downloadable GIS files.
