COAST Networks: Geospatial Research, Education and Technology (GREAT)
California’s near-shore terrestrial and marine coastal-shelf ecosystems are particularly sensitive to human perturbation and environmental change. The COAST Geospatial Research, Education & Technology (GREAT) Network advances the use of interdisciplinary geospatial data visualization and analysis to enhance our ability to understand and manage interactions between humans and the environment, addressing a broad range of critical issues in the coastal zone.
GREAT promotes research to address coastal management issues while providing education and training in the latest geospatial technologies to CSU students and faculty. The Network encourages long-term collaboration between CSU experts and stakeholders; trains a diverse, job-ready coastal zone work force; and informs coastal policy on a broad range of pressing environmental issues.
