The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act requires the distribution of an annual security report to all current faculty, staff, and students and notice of its availability to prospective students, faculty, and staff. The annual security report includes statistics for the previous three years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus, in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the California State University, and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus. The report also includes institutional policies concerning campus security, such as policies concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters. You can obtain a copy of this report by contacting the Police Department of each campus or by accessing the campus websites listed below.
The California State University system received the nationally prestigious Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Award in 2002 for creating a training video showing how to comply with federal laws on reporting campus crime statistics, as well as for developing a comprehensive system-wide alcohol policy.
The Clery Award is given annually by Security On Campus, Inc., a non-profit grassroots organization dedicated to ensuring safe campuses for college and university students. It recognizes universities and individuals who take extra efforts to protect college students. |
